We have strengthened our growing self-employed division with the appointment of Nick Savage to the role of area director.
Based in South East London and with three decades of experience across the industry, Nick will be working closely with 30 self-employed advisers in the area to support the growth of their businesses. Alongside mentoring and support with day-to-day activities, Nick will also help brokers with their business plans, future planning and to explore growth and recruitment opportunities.
Nick is best known for his time with Countrywide Mortgages, where he spent more than 15 years. From writing his first mortgage in 2005, Nick progressed through the business and later became senior sales manager, supporting the development of 15 advisers in 19 offices across South East London. He will utilise his experience in developing talent and recruitment to support the growth of the division – enabling ambitious employed advisers to make the move into a self-employed role.
Nick’s career in finance began with a role with NatWest, before moving into the property sector and gaining experience managing residential lettings, sales, and new homes. In addition to NatWest and Countrywide, Nick has worked for the likes of Lloyds Group and Citi Group across his 30-plus year career.
Speaking on his appointment, Nick Savage said: “Just Mortgages has always been on my radar, so the opportunity to join the team is one I jumped at. I’ve been really impressed with the spirit and progressive approach of the management which is really flexible and receptive to fresh ideas. It’s quite clear the value Just Mortgages offers to its clients through the twists and turns in the market with its fantastic platform.
“It’s an exciting opportunity and one that offers plenty of crossover – allowing me to share my expertise and counsel to help advisers reach their potential and to grow their businesses. With a keen eye for recognising talent, I am really looking forward to talking to brokers who have the drive and ambition to make the leap into the self-employed world. So many have the skill set, they just need someone to support them to be successful. The Just Mortgages model certainly allows for that.”
Nick joins a team of sixteen area directors, adding further expertise and experience to the self-employed management team at Just Mortgages. In total, the team is made up of more than 30 members of staff supporting almost 500 self-employed brokers across the country.
Carl Parker, national director at Just Mortgages, added: “It’s quite the coup for our advisers in the region and the wider division to have someone with the skills and experience Nick has. Having both worked at Countrywide, I can speak directly of Nick’s abilities to mentor and motivate advisers, helping them to fulfill their potential.
“As we fast approach 500 advisers, it’s critical we have the necessary support structure and expertise around our team to deliver a true launching pad for them and their businesses. I’m really pleased to welcome Nick to the Just Mortgages team at such an exciting time for the business.”
In addition to day-to-day support, self-employed advisers with Just Mortgages access ongoing training, mentoring, and support with sales, marketing, and compliance. To support their expansion, advisers can access the business principals program, which provides the relevant training and mentoring to expand their teams and build both their leadership and management skills. Across our employed and self-employed divisions, Just Mortgages has more than 650 advisers nationwide.
