Congratulations! You've secured your new home and the excitement of moving day is just around the corner. Don’t forget the crucial task of updating your contact details with a whole host of organisations. To ensure a smooth transition and avoid any post-move headaches, here's a guide on who needs to be notified of your change of address.

Essential Utilities:

Energy Suppliers (Gas & Electricity): Let them know your move-out date and final meter readings. You might be able to transfer your plan to your new address, but compare deals to see if there's a better fit.

Water Provider: Similar to energy suppliers, inform them of your move date and final meter reading (if applicable). They'll also need your new address to set up billing for your new home.

Broadband & Phone: Contact your provider to see if they offer service in your new location. If not, you'll need to cancel your current plan and find a new one.

Financial Institutions:

Bank & Building Societies: Update your address online or through their branch. This ensures smooth delivery of bank statements and keeps your information secure.

Insurance Companies: Inform your home, car, and contents insurance providers about your move. Depending on the location, your coverage might change, so it's important to review your policies.

Credit Card Companies & Lenders: Update your details to avoid late payment fees due to missed statements.

Online Retailers & Delivery Services: Update your address details with online retailers you frequent and delivery services you use for groceries or takeaways.

Official Bodies & Subscriptions:

Local Council: Contact your council to update your council tax information and register to vote at your new address. This ensures you receive important local updates and can exercise your democratic right.

Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA): Get your new address reflected on your driver's license. This avoids any complications during police checks or car registration renewals.

Subscription Services: Review your online subscriptions (streaming services, magazines, etc.) and update your address to ensure uninterrupted delivery.

Personal & Professional Networks:

Employer: Let your HR department know about your move, especially if it affects your tax status or commute.

Doctor, Dentist & Other Medical Providers: Update your address to ensure you continue receiving appointment reminders and maintain access to medical records.

By following these steps, you can ensure a smooth transition and avoid any post-move inconveniences. If you have any questions about moving house or mortgages, contact us!
